On Wed Sep 23 2026 stocks gave back some of their recent gains as Treasury Yields rose on the back of climbing oil prices. 30 year yields were at their highest level since 2004. As well flash manufacturing PMI and Services PMI for September jumped more than estimated renewing predictions of another Fed rate increase in October.
The SPX ended the day down 58 points to 7706 on volume of 5.2 billion shares with 75% of that volume being traded lower. By the close 78% of al stocks were falling. New 52 week lows jumped to 366 by the close.
The NASDAQ fell 308 points to close at 26,936. Volume was 9.8 billion with 65% of volume trading lower. The close saw 75% of stocks on the index falling. New 52 week lows rose to 427, the highest number since March 30 when 534 new lows were recorded.
