These are the trades for 2014 in Facebook Stock. 2014 marks the first year of trading fairly regularly in Facebook Stock. 2013 was the first year of trading but I did just a handful of trades including buying stock a number of times while it was below $25.00. Facebook is a speculative stock trade. I only do one speculative stock trade at a time. The majority of my capital is tied to my regular big cap blue chip stocks, but a strong speculative stock can assist in boosting a portfolio if traded properly.

The problem for a lot of investors is they are drawn to the fat option premiums and price volatility which often accompanies a speculative stock. Even professional investors get caught up in speculative stocks and often can have a string of successful trades and then have one or two trades wipe out months of gains. This is part of the reason I only do one speculative stock at a time but keep a number of speculative stocks on my watch list. This helps to curb the over trading that can occur. Instead I can view my speculative stocks and then choose whichever stock has the best trade potential. By forcing myself to only do one trade in a speculative stock at a time there is never enough capital tied to a speculative trade to damage my annual return.

Facebook Stock, I believe has more potential than a lot of analysts and investors are assuming. This company has enormous potential for gains with more than a billion users. No other social-type stock or company can boast the following that Facebook has. That said, its user base must be preserved and expanded on including having many other offerings as internet based companies can be here today and gone tomorrow as we saw with Research In Motion, now BlackBerry and many others. Still the case for Facebook is compelling. The move into mobile advertising is now generating about 30% of total revenue as Facebook continues to try to dominate the handheld social network community. It now needs to build on its customer base and solidify it. Purchases of companies like Instagram are good examples of such attempts to build customer loyalty.
