United Parcel Service Stock (UPS) is down as UPS executives outlined plans to begin to focus on specific deliveries that are more lucrative for the company, then focusing on volume of parcels being delivered. Management advised that they plan to focus their deliveries on healthcare, small and medium sized businesses. They also discussed same day delivery.
While Amazon is it’s number one client by volume of packages, CEO Carol Tome indicated that “Not all packages are attractive to us,” and the company believes small to medium size business will outpace large companies such as Amazon, for earnings.
This move by UPS places an unknown into the stock’s outlook as it will take many months for management to prove their outlook is correct.
