On Monday the TSX ended the day higher by 83.54 points to close at 13,841.92. The market rallied today on the back of the Liberal win in yesterday’s federal election.
Historically TSX stocks tend to do better under Liberal governments. That’s primarily because Liberal governments usually run larger deficits. It is also because historically Canada has had more Liberal governments. It could also be caused by the fact that usually when a Conservative government comes to power they reign in what they see as over spending from Liberal governments. Whatever the reason, the stock market and Canadian dollar had not too bad a day today on the back of the Liberal win last night……….the rest of this article is for FullyInformed members.
