
On the final trading day of 2016, Dec 30, the TSX dropped 134.53 points, but the stance was still bullish for the TSX Composite Index.
On Tuesday Jan 3 the TSX managed a gain but today the TSX moved higher by 113.72 points to recover all the loss from Friday Dec 30 and closed in on the 52 week high.
TSX Composite Index Rises 113.72 Points
The climb of the TSX Composite Index on Wednesday Jan 4 added 0.74% to the index closing at 15,516.75.
The Canadian dollar jumped to $75.12 cents (US) its highest level in many weeks. Eight of the 10 sectors of the TSX Composite Index moved higher. For the first time in weeks, industrials, information technology and materials sectors led the market higher.
