Quick CommentsThe Fed’s decision to increase interest rates by a quarter of a percent today was not a surprise.

Some Fed comments though are interesting to mention.

The Fed plans to remain dovish but they see three more rate increases in 2017. They continue to see rate hikes in 2018 and 2019 as they move back to a more “normalized” interest rate environment.

Interest rates though are expected to be small. Analysts believe quarter percentage point hikes are probably the next steps in 2017.

They indicated that risks to the economy are balanced as they continue to see improvement in the economy. They see the economy continuing to expand at a moderate pace. Job gains are solid and household spending is moderate. However business spending they note remains soft.

The biggest concerns seems to be of inflation expectations. They appear concerned that inflation could increase in 2017 and are monitoring it. Exactly what levels was not spelled out.

My Outlook – Staying The Course

I am continuing to stay invested. I see nothing in their comments or their outlook that would advise the market will experience any kind of bear or even major pullback in coming weeks. I am still of the opinion the Dow Jones will shortly break through 20,000 and the S&P 2300.

Today’s Fed rate increase and especially their comments on 3 more rate hikes to be expected in 2017 will send bond yields higher and probably gold prices lower. Bonds are basically going to be hammered yet again.

I will update trading tips throughout the next few days in my trades and comments for members.
