This is the latest trade update for Disney Stock. Disney Stock was never a permanent member of my portfolio. Instead I traded it on and off for the past 7 years.
In 2014 however Disney Stock entered my portfolio as a permanent member. This is because of Disney has become probably the largest media and entertainment company in the world and shows no signs of slowing down.
This stock meets my criteria of having multiple revenue streams and multiple products as well as being a global entity that has revenue coming from numerous parts of the globe. At this point in time, no other company is doing “entertainment” as well as Disney and Disney Stock price reflects that.

Disney Stock Latest Statistics

The earnings released on Friday show a continued growth pattern for Disney with fourth quarter earnings at 89 cents a share, a 16% increase from last year. The increase in returns came from a variety of sources which is what I look for in a company. The movie Frozen has brought in over $1.2 billion so far in movie sales and the merchandise is continuing to gain momentum. Other successes this year included Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America 2 and Maleficent. Disney has already announced a number of box-office blockbusters for 2015 which means I will be trading the company in 2015 as well. These movies include Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Toy Story 4 (2017) and Stars Wars: The Force Awakens.

Disney Stock Earnings Per Share

Earnings per share came in at $4.32 which beat analysts estimated and was a 27% improvement over the previous year.

Disney Stock Down 2.4%

Programming costs are continuing to grow at ESPN which is the biggest reason for the decline of the shares on Friday. This is resulting in pressure on the Media Networks segment of the business. Shares were down 2.4% on Friday as a result of this finding.

Disney Stock Revenue

Revenue was up though in all segments of the business except Interactive Revenues which fell 9%. As you will recall I look for growth among all segments of a business and Disney is doing just that except for one segment. This is in stark contrast to stocks like Citigroup as discussed in the recent article on Citigroup Stock on how just minutes a day can save my portfolio.
