Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. is a convenience store operator in the United States, Europe and Canada with its head office in Laval Quebec. The Company operates its convenience store and fuel retailing chain through 6,207 convenience stores under several banners, including Circle K, Statoil, Couche-Tard and Mac’s. In Europe, Couche-Tard operates a broad retail network across Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Denmark), Poland, the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and Russia with 2,276 stores as at October 13, 2013, the majority of which offer fuel and convenience products. The Company has numerous revenues streams from a variety of products including everything from wireless phones to fuel for cars, trucks and marine. It also offers full convenience store products which have a higher markup value than regular grocers. With revenue of $41 billion it surpasses chains like Loblaw, George Weston, Empire and Metro and has better product markup rates. Its gross revenue surpasses all of Canada’s banks. The company did a 3 for 1 split on April 23 2014 which I think is positive for the stock.
