3 Days To End A Trade – Trade Alert and Discussion – Bank Of Nova Scotia Stock (BNS) – Feb 11 2015

Bank of Nova Scotia stock was hammered just a few short weeks ago. At the end of November 2014 the stock was trading around $70.50 off its earlier highs of $74 from August 2014. Bank Of Nova Scotia then announced layoffs and write-downs in its Central American and Caribbean operations. Then investors became worried over the price of oil and its impact on the Canadian Banks. Finally, add into that mixed the decision by the Bank of Canada to cut interest rates and Bank of Nova Scotia simply collapsed under all the “band news”.

The stock fell back to just below $61.00 and at that time I sold naked puts for $58 and $60 due to expire Feb 20, next week.

The Bank Of Nova Scotia Stock daily chart below from the end of December 2014 to Feb 11 2015, shows the impact of the decline. The stock has since then recovered to $66.00 for a gain of about 10% from the recent lows.
