The Canadian Stock Market outlook for Wednesday August 3 2016 hinged on oil. If oil moved lower the TSX would follow, but if oil rallies, the TSX would move higher.
On Tuesday we saw a mixed bag with not just energy stocks, but financials moving lower as well. Today we got another mixed bag with oil stocks moving higher as the day progressed with oil prices rallying and some but not all financials moving higher as well.
The US dollar rallied but so did the Canadian dollar. By the end of the day 6 of the TSX’s 10 sectors moved higher.
TSX Composite Index Rises 35.04 Points
By the end of the day the TSX managed to squeeze out a slim rise of a quarter of a percent closing at 14,512.05 which placed the TSX back above the 14500 level……………….the rest of the Canadian Stock Market Outlook for Tomorrow is for members.
