Monday starts the first week of May and the beginning of the so-called 6 worst months for the market. May was not always a terrible month. From 1985 to 1997 May was the best month of the year with 13 years of 3.3% gains for the month.

However since 1950, May has been poor for stocks in every election year so unless a new record is about to be set, May promises to be difficult.
