August has certainly started off by sticking with its historic trend of being the most consistent month for losses. The first week saw nothing but drops but we are now entering the second week. Historically the second week has been about as poor as the first but the last two weeks of August have often seen a recovery of sorts from the first two weeks, so perhaps we could say we are half-way through the worst August historically will throw at investors.
