Historically stocks in the early part of December tend to see weakness and can take a number of dips. By mid-December, historically they pick up strength and move higher in the week ahead of Christmas. After Christmas stocks invariably enter the highly anticipated Santa Claus Rally.
The old saying of “If Santa Claus should fail to call, bears may come to Broad and Wall” actually has a lot of historic fact to it, going back to 1950.
