Another large set back for the indexes on Wednesday as an early morning rally failed and the indexes after trying for a bounce were sold lower. As the day wore on, the afternoon saw particularly heavy volume of sellers. By the close, the indexes were seeing strong sell volumes and stocks once more, fell to the lows of the day.
Investors continue to worry that a rise in interest rates will come sooner rather than later and could stymie domestic and possibly global growth, leading to a decline in share valuations. Powell’s comments on Tuesday renewed those fears with hints of possibly 4 interest rate increases in 2018 rather than 3 or as some had hoped, 2.
