Greece dominated stocks in the first week of July. Despite analysts predicting that the Greek “problem” would be just a blip on the global stock markets, it turned out differently as investors wondered about the state of the Euro and the EU if Greece defaulted and decided to leave. Many of these same analysts who had discarded any notion that Greece’s debt woes would cause stocks globally to fall, now were talking about other countries following Greece including Portugal, Spain and Italy. This would how far-reaching implications for the EU, especially any Italian departure which the Italian government denied more than once during the week.

This week Greece still dominates the start of the week as a national referendum is to be held on July 5 and the results supposedly used by the Greek government as a guide for what they should do.
