With weakness I see no need to jump though. I am posting an article this evening that shows Microsoft might break lower here. I plan to keep some capital dry so to speak so I can sell more just below $40 if that becomes possible next week or even later this week.

    Hi Amy
I have the 30Jan15 CAT 82.50. Guess I’ll wait til the end of the week and see if it bounces, if not then roll. Sold the 20Feb15 75 today also.

Seconded, Teddi! Great to see all the alternative trades for the same stock. Looks like I may have been a bit conservative with the $40 and going out to March, may sell the $41 for Feb if we have weakness tomorrow.

I was holding on to Feb $34 puts – think it’s going to be tested for a bit.

Managed to get decent premiums ($0.40) for Mar $31 puts too.

    Best,
    Daryl

ARGH….Twitter, Inc. is expected* to report earnings on 02/05/2015 after market close. I thought that premium was a little high. As the song says, “Should I stay or should I go”….will probably close early if I can make a decent profit. All I need is $400 for another 1% profit. If it pops, I can sell calls since I don’t have any yet for that week I guess…

Yea, in hindsight I should have listed it under speculative; it’s just part of my normal portfolio these days!

So far, it’s been terrific. I am staying away before earnings, as I usually do:)

This is one stock I know nothing about. Obviously though you follow it. Hopefully others do as well. Premiums sure looked decent. But for ultra conservative traders I would like to be lower, probably down $55 for the Feb 20 put strike. Volumes look more like Canadian options, thin and wide spreads. For example the $54.50 is 24 bid and 41 ask. These kinds of stocks are great at times. You could place an offer at .37 cents and just leave it there and perhaps pick up the $54.50 for 0.67% return which is still an easy 8% for the year. Beats any dividend I know of and definitely better than a bank deposit. Just thinking out load and not a recommendation of any kind, but does make you think.

Definitely pick up stock on MSFT this morning in my opinion. PG puts are sweet spot right now. I didn’t have a chance to check DuPont but what a great idea. I missed that one. I see no problem with AT&T Stock and sold more puts which I outlined in my afternoon investing strategy notes. I like it anywhere below $32.50. Remember my color coding chart for AT&T Stock. Below $32 it is very good value and below $30 a steal. So why not set up a small Put Selling ladder in the present turmoil.

Nice trade Amy. I like the stock even though it is a speculative stock. I still think it is a great vehicle for income.

My settings are exactly what is on the website. That is what I think is strange. I have no problem with my settings from interactive brokers. Call them would be my suggestion.
Mind you, I am in Canada. Maybe the platform is different.

Well, the volumes are poor but I don’t see why they could not be traded. The problem with Ultra ETFS is the huge losses when the option trade fails. When owning the shares you can hold them indefinitely and they offer more flexibility. Even averaging down is a good idea at times with the Ultra ETFs shares but options have a finite lifespan.

It is a great tradse. I love Microsoft at these prices. How could you argue against the $40 put strike. That is exactly what I sold as well and I rolled my $44 puts from yesterday forward to earn even more premium. The art of rolling forward can really boost your return. Congrats to all those brave souls who joined me in Microsoft Stock. The new members forum will allow us to discuss stock trades more openly and with prices and suggestions. I love this!

You would need then a different technical indicators for the strategy. That would take me some time to figure out and backtest.

This was in reply to my post earlier last year to Lex’s post on IB. Amibroker is not part of my IB & I am unable to edit the settings for Fast Stochastic (Period of fast avg.) https://www.fullyinformed.com/members/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/amibroker-chart-pennies-strategy.gif
