Wed Aug 9 2017 saw the TSX give back a bit more ground with a loss of 39.02 points to close at 15,217.33. Financial stocks were weak after just a few days of what looked like promising gains.
Gold rose which pulled the precious metals higher but most of the market did not join in. Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Stock (VRX) which had risen on Tuesday by 3%, collapsed 9.5% on Wednesday to close at $17.85 and that weighed on the TSX Composite Index as well.
With concerns over North Korea continuing to occupy the headlines, investors moved some capital to the sidelines. Overall though, there was no major move lower, just a small negative close.
