Profits and Income Ideas Around Earnings Announcements

May 6 2014: Many investors dread trading around quarterly earnings announcements. A stock’s volatility can increase dramatically during this time period. Even big cap stocks like Walt Disney Stock will see higher volatility which increases option premiums and can pressure a stock both to the upside and downside. Instead of worrying about earnings, I set up trades to benefit from the higher volatility that accompanies earnings. It comes down to the strategy being used. My strategies focus on protecting capital first and the profit second. I know how hard it is to earn lost capital back. I prefer not to lose capital in the first place.
