The Canadian Stock Market Outlook for Monday July 4 2016 was for possibly some weakness in the morning but a higher close.
The TSX Composite Index did not dip but instead it rose at the open and pushed higher into the lunch hour. It then drifted sideways for the remainder of the day.
TSX Composite Index Rises 194.33 Points
With the US markets closed, most investors took the day “off” and the TSX Composite Index drifted sideways after a huge run-up in the morning.

You can see in today’s chart (July 4 2016) The jump at the open and then then push to try to break through to 14300. There was not enough strength to the push as most investors were on the sidelines. From the lunch hour, stocks drifted lower and twice almost broke through 14250. By the close the TSX Composite Index was at 14258.87 just 8 points above the 14250 support level.
Momentum for the day was all in the first 45 minutes with a huge spike in momentum. That ended quickly and sharply. Momentum then turn sideways and was basically neutral for most of the day…………….the rest of the Canadian Stock Market Outlook for Tomorrow is for members.
