Walmart stock is a giant of stock. It is held by institutions and pension funds around the world. Its annual revenue is staggering at $485.5 billion. The latest revenue however was yet another disappointment for investors as the profit picture was hurt by the high US dollar, increasing wages for employees, improving customer service by increasing employee hours, struggling with online sales, declining pharmacy revenue among a variety of other smaller factors including delaying or stopping smaller-format stores from opening.

There was one bright spot however as the quarterly earnings report released today show that sales growth in the US actually improved at most locations.

Revenue numbers at the world’s largest bricks and mortar were still decent at $102.2 billion for the quarter but they were basically unchanged from $120.1 billion for the same period last year. The company earned $1.21 per share for the same quarter last year and $1.24 per share for the same quarter the year before. This year net profit for the quarter was $1.08 per share. You can see where profit is heading.
