Stock Market Outlook for Feb 16 2017 – Extremely Overbought But Still Higher

On Wednesday I has expected to see a bit more weakness, but any even small stalling of the index in the morning brought in buyers. The S&P moved higher throughout the day and closed just off the highs during the day. Enthusiasm for stock  buying continued unabated on Wednesday and all three indexes closed once again at all-time highs. Whereas in the past, any hawkish comments on interest rates from the Fed would have sunk stocks, today’s hawkish tone seemed to push stocks higher as…

Today a lot of banks stocks gave back some of those gains as investors waited for more “news” on the subject. Stock Market Outlook for Feb 3 2017 – Sideways With Slight Bias Up

Another choppy day on Thursday. Markets swung in and out of negative and positive until by the close they were almost unchanged. Lots of talk out of Washington didn’t help investors. Looking at trading numbers it is obvious most investors don’t want to sell at these levels but without positive progress out of Washington, the technicals are slowly slipping. It’s actually too bad considering that to date those S&P companies that have reported earnings are on average up 7.5% which is the best gain in…

This kept the indexes both in negative and positive territory. Meanwhile factory activity hit a two plus year high and private payrolls beat estimates.
