One of the widest held stocks in Canada is Royal Bank Of Canada. The trading symbol is RY. The bank trades under the same symbol in both Canada and the United States. I only trade it in Canada which have better option increments, and like most Canadian stocks low option volumes most of the time. Options in Canada are not widely traded or even understood which is a shame as many Canadian investors could boost their annual returns significantly through some simple strategies. Even just selling covered calls can go a long way to providing a better annual return and a degree of protection against declines and a way to profit from declines.
Royal Bank Stock Chart To July 7 2015
The one year stock chart for Royal Bank Of Canada Stock clearly points to the stock remaining under stress. The all-time high of Nov 28 2014 has not been revisited and indeed a second top at the $81 valuation made in December has been challenged but not broken through this year. Royal Bank Of Canada Stock continues to show no signs of breaking free of the range it is currently trading in. This makes short-term covered call trading not just practical but also practical and profitable. Here is how I often trade covered calls against core holdings of large cap Canadian dividend stocks.
