Investors had too many announcements today to digest and most of them appeared to be negative for stockholders. The problem is there are too many catalysts to the downside for investors including a major downgrade at Caterpillar Stock to a sell with a target of $28.00. Add in Caterpillar’s announcement of a cut in their revenue forecast and possible job cuts of between 5,000 to 10,000 employees by 2018 and the market simply shuddered on the news. This fits in well with the Fed Chair Yellen’s comments last week of concerns over global economies for the next couple of years. With little signs of inflation anywhere in the world, investors see no reason for the Fed to raise interest rates any time soon. Later today Janet Yellen is back speaking and that also has some investors spooked a bit.
