On Jan 25 I set up a trade in Apple Stock ahead of the earnings to be relesed on January 26 after the markets closed.
On Jan 26 after the close, Apple reported their earnings which were quite good and one of the highest quarterly earnings in their history, but the stock collapsed on the forward guidance from the company that indicated the next quarter was predicted to show a decline in their iPhone sales.
This immediately started a media snowball which ranted about the end of an era for Apple iPhones and the obvious impact of their market saturation. This just added to the decline pressure on the stock.
This worked out beautifully for my trade. But while the trade results were good there are always areas that can be improved upon. This strategy discussion on Apple Stock looks at the recent trade designed to benefit from volatility following the earnings announcement and how it could have been improved.
